IMMORTALS Movie – Gruesomely Good and Bad

Your eyes will be pleased by the gorgeous look of Henry Cavill and Frieda Pinto in the epic, well-depicted Greek mythology story by the visionary director, Tarsem Singh in his latest, one of the most-anticipated movie of the year, Immortal.  Henry Cavill played as Theseus, the chosen Human who’s secretly trained by Zeus to destroy the nefarious army of the mad King Hyperion, played by The Wrestler star, Mickey Rourke.  The vicious king had nothing but wrath against the Gods in the Olympus following the death of his dear wife and children.  Since then, he’s been searching for the mighty Ephirus Bow to unearth the Titans and release the wave of destruction in the earth andOlympusto be the ruler of the world.  Theseus started his journey with the pretty-faced oracle, Phaedra (Frieda Pinto) and a thief (Stephen Dorff).

Immortal offers a great effect of pictures which everything appeared to be enormous in your eyes with the massive castle, cliffs, open-land and even the giant beast army with cow-wire-thorns head completed with blood-shattered, cruel scenes of throat slashing, stabs and jabs.  Cavill played his emotion well as a “just human” warrior while pairing with Pinto in an almost completely easily forgotten love story between both.  Personally, I don’t really care if Immortal doesn’t make Rourke’s villain character to be a one-of-the-most-remembered-villains in any movie history, because his figure said it enough.  After watching half of the movie, the focus of the story started to be blurred.  There’s no strong or enough dialogues and shots to lead the audience to the main purpose of the movie; whether to solely defeat King Hyperion or to slay the Gods.  However, it is still a movie full of suspense; you can’t take your eyes off it.  It’s worth to watch.

  1. It’s probably one of the best-looking films of the whole year (yet, I still haven’t seen Tree of Life) and the action is awesome and in-you-face which is something I always like. The story dragged on a bit and I couldn’t help but think that if the writing was a tweaked a little better, this would have definitely been a very solid film. Instead it was just fun and pretty to look at. Good review.
